Zoe came in at just under two years old as a training horse and just the type I like – a challenge. NO manners what so ever, a smart strong personality, and used to getting her way. Well it took time but over the years Zoe not only learned respect but really began to enjoy her lessons and the whole learning process.

She is now so happy and relaxed in her work she can give lessons with a smile on her face and has a true understanding of what her job is.

She loves being able to show off and do her tricks and is only to happy to participate in any of the fun activities we do here on the farm. Dress her up in funny outfits and take her places, she doesn’t mind, she’s happy to come and play. Zoe has really grown into a confident and kind mare. She takes her work seriously and doesn’t mind being pushed for a little extra physical effort. She is a solid, honest work horse.

I was drawn to Zoe at first because walk and canter were her best gaits. For a Friesian bred to primarily trot, I thought that was a great surprise! Her walk has good overstep and relaxed rhythm and her canter is steady and strong. Her trot is straight and forward with reach without extreme height.

Zoe’s inbreeding coefficient is very low which is probably why she has been a breeders dream. She conceives easy, foals out with no problems and milks like a Guernsey cow. So strong are her reproductive abilities we are actually using her as an embryo recipient. Yes, you read it right, A Friesian as a recipient! Zoe is that healthy, hardy and tough.

Solid in mind and body and not afraid of a challenge.

Since being leased, Zoe has fallen in love with Kristen and vise versa so we have promised to sell her to Kristen when we are done needing Zoe for breeding. Lots of cookies, a few more babies and life of enjoyment. Zoe has earned it.
