PEDIGREE, SHOW RECORD, PICTURES,
BREEDING, AND MORE INFO

Comico was imported by us in 2006. I was looking for another stallion to add in to my program and my requirements were strict and proving nearly impossible to find. Had to be a correct horse with good legs and frame, not too long, not too short, excellent neck, incredible movement, good temperament, not be even remotely related to my existing breeding herd – both the stallions and mares, and oh yeah, all of that in a rare color so I could continue my “Bringing back the colored Spanish horse” quest.

As you can imagine, not an easy task. Nearly a year later and probably a hundred horses looked at, none fit all the requirements. Funny colors in ugly packages with bad breeding, some nice horses – until you saw them move, and we won’t even talk about the crippled lame ones...And then one day my broker emailed me to say “oh yeah, there’s this horse in England, he’s sort of – kind of, not really – for sale. But I can see what the owner says if she will sell him. He’s nice and quiet. Here’s a picture if you’re interested.”I think I still have the bruise where my jaw hit the table.

There pictured in the middle of a busy showgrounds was a very quiet, bored looking Andalusian in the funniest color I had ever seen. Good looking with a face staring out behind the hair that looked identical to my old pal Auggie. I promptly forwarded the pictures to friends who had known Auggie and said “who does this horse look like?” the replies were quick,“oh my god it’s Auggie!! When is he getting here? You did buy him right?” Enough said.

I waited for the videos and more information to confirm he was as nice as I suspected, but deep down I knew that first day I was going to buy him. I always listen to those strong gut reactions. I found Encina that way, and while this modest mild mannered stallion didn’t know it yet, he had already had a strong connection and a fan club growing overseas
